NYC

What a beautiful place to visit, to explore and to enjoy! I was staying for a few days and one the place that I like is Rockefeller center. The Christmas tree, the fountain basins and the ice skating rink surrounded by hundreds of flags make it such a special place.

Organizing my Yarn and the Shoes!

Recently I was researching to purchase the storage shelfing unit for the yarn. I wanted to place the storage unit into the closet and needed the specific measurements for the perfect fit. I spent a lot of time searching and researching and found the perfect unit which I bought and cannot be happier about the purchase!

This storage shelfing unit is sturdy and the price is great! You can find this storage shelfing unit here. The shelf width is 18 inches and the most storage units have 24 inches or 14 inches width. 18 inches width is perfect to store my yarn.

As I was searching for the storage units for my yarn I noticed the perfect Shoe Racks Storage Organizer for my shoes. I always thought that I needed something for my shoes to organize but I had no idea what to get. The moment I saw this Shoe Racks Storage Organizer I thought it will be the perfect fit as it is not too high and has 4 shelves.

This Shoe Racks Storage Organizer is light weigh yet sturdy for the shoes. After I received mine, I ordered the third for my husbands too. This shoes rack is amazing for the shoes.

Trip to Miami

Picture: Trip to Miami

The trip to Miami was amazing and yes I took two crochet projects. One of them was Sandy Shore crochet crop top that I finished in Miami and another one was Cherry Blossom crochet top. I finished Cherry Blossom top at home. Miami was just beautiful and I can’t wait to go there again. The picture features the lighthouse located in Key Biscayne Bay in Miami.

To crochet the Cherry Blossom top I was using Loops & Threads Cream Cotton pastel pink yarn and for Sandy Shore top I was using Vanna’s Choice linen color yarn.

The written patterns for the Cherry Blossom and Sandy Shore crochet tops are also available on Etsy.

Miami is such a beautiful city with beautiful architecture, nice beaches and sparkling turquoise water. We visited North and South beach, Biscayne Bay and other amazing places.

We also took a one day trip driving from Miami to Sanibel Island. It is so sad to hear that this beautiful island is destroyed. I was eager to go to this island to see the seashells that the island was famous for. We drove for about two hours from east to west Florida to visit Sanibel Island and the island did not disappoint and I wish we could stay there for a few days but I hope to come back some day when the island is rebuild.

We also visited Islamorada and Key Largo. These two small towns are located on the way to Key West. The images below were taken near Indian Key Fill. What a beautiful place! The water color is just gorgeous!

Switzerland

Switzerland was just amazing and I have to admit it is one of the most beautiful places on Earth! I did not take any of my crochet or knitting projects to Switzerland as my plan was to visit many places in Switzerland. There were so many trails to take and the views were just amazing! We visited Lauterbrunnen with the famous Staubbach Falls, Interlaken, Wengen, Grindelwald and Murren. Each of these places were amazing!

One item that is a must when traveling to Switzerland Alps is backpack and you can search for them here. I was skeptical about the backpacks and wanted to have my purse instead, but then realized that backpack is much better solution when taking the trails in Alps.

Another item that is a must when traveling to Switzerland Alps is a pair of hiking shoes. The hiking shoes for women or hiking shoes for men is a must! I was not ready to take those 8 or 10 mile trails with my shoes I packed, or rather my shoes were not ready to take those miles. Next time I am goings the first thing I am packing is a pair of hiking shoes.

We took a train from Zurich to Interlaken but we had to change a train in Bern and it was important to get to the train from the section that is shown on a ticket as a train splits on the way, with one portion going to Grindlewald, while the other goes to Lauterbrunnen.

Interlaken Switzerland

The two lakes bridge is so worth visiting in Interlaken! The turquoise Thun Lake and turquoise Brienz Lake are amazing and between them sits Interlaken. We took a ten minutes cable ride to the top of the Harder Kulm mountain. It is possible to hike up to the Harder Kulm mountain but the trail is very steep and I don’t think it is worth to try. I heard the stories that some people who decided to take the trail gave up and never reached the top. There is a restaurant at the top of the mountain to get a hot meal. Also, there are a few trails that you could take. We did not take a trail as it was 6pm at night and we did not have enough time to come back from a trail.

Lauterbrunnen Switzerland

Staubbach Falls is a signature waterfall of Lauterbrunnen town and you can take a few steep steps to get behind this waterfall. There are many other waterfalls in Lauterbrunnen valley too. The number of waterfalls depend on the season and the amount of the snow in the mountains.

Lauterbrunnen lies at the bottom of a U-shaped valley and is overlooked by the Eiger, Munch and Jungfrau. From Lauterbrunnen you can get to Wengen by mountain train and to Murren by cableway.

Wengen, Murren and trip to Grindelwald, Switzerland

Wengen and Murren are the cars-free villages in the mountains and these mountain vilages can be reached from Lauterbrunnen. We took a train to get to Wengen and we reached Murren by cableway and then on the top of the mountain we took a direct one car train to Murren. The views in Murren were spectacular! Oh, alpine flowers they are amazing!

Wengen is a car-free village in the mountains. We reached Wengen via the railway and the train departs from Lauterbrunnen. From Wenger by aerial large cable car with a balcony we reached Männlichen. We paid 5 extra euros for a balcony ticket and it was so worth it. The views from a cable car balcony were spectacular. Once on a top of Männlichen we took the Panorama trail and walked to the Klein Scheidegg enjoying the nature, Alps views with the ice-blue glaciers and alpine flowers. The mountain train took us from Klein Scheidegg back to Wengen.

We had one extra day in Wengen so decided to take a train and to have one day trip to Grindelward. In Grindelwald it is all about the mountains. In Grindelwald we took a gondola ride to the First Mountain. You cannot drive up to First by car or by bus and hiking here from Grindelwald would take you half a day and it is 7.4 km straight uphill hike. The views on the top of the First Mountain are breathtaking.

The First Cliff Walk is one of the attractions at the top of the First Mountain. The First Cliff Walk is a metal walkway and a unique hanging bridge built along the cliff of the First Mountain and it is free of charge for everyone! The views from the viewing platform are stunning. Besides the cliff edge walk there are other attractions. You can try flying above the mountains in the First Flyer, rush down in the mountain cart or trot bike scooter, you can try paragliding or the mountain car ride.

I really enjoyed the hike up to alpine Lake Bachalpsee. There were so many beautiful alpine wildflowers along the hike. It was the beginning of July with the snow around us but we were not cold at all at the top of the mountain.

Lake Bachalpsee in Switzerland

After alpine Lake Bachalpsee visit we got back to the First and took a cable car ride down to Grindelwald and then by train back to Wengen. The day spent in Grindelwald was just amazing!

After exploring the mountain village Wengen we stayed in Murren for a few days. Murren is a car-free mountain village and we took a cable car from Lauterbrunnen to get to the top of the mountain and then a train to Murren. We explored Murren and took a few trails and really enjoyed the nature, alpine wildflowers and amazing mountains views.
