The Flower of Life pattern is one of my favorites! Once you master this Flower of Life stitch pattern, you can crochet anything using it. This Celebrity Flower of Life pattern is written in American Standard Terms. In this pattern always crochet 2 double treble cluster from the same stitch. Starting with row 3, always crochet 2 double treble cluster into the stitch that you crocheted the previous row’s slip stitch. You should insert the hook not into the previous but into the second previous row’s stitch. This will be the flower center. The stitch is larger than the other stitches.

Yarn

I am using 3-4 skeins Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice soft acrylic, weight 4 medium yarn in mustard, but you can use any weight 4 yarn.

How to Crochet

How to crochet 2dtr cl = 2 double treble cluster. Yarn over three times, insert the hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over three times again, insert the hook into the same stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through 3 loops.

How to crochet double treble. Yarn over three times, insert the hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.

Notes

1. This pattern is written in American Standard Terms.

ch = chain stitch

sp – space

st – stitch

** = repeat instructions between asterisk as many times as directed. The repeat in each following row increases by one; therefore, repeat the pattern as many times as needed to finish the row. In each row the pattern increases with one additional repeat.

To start make a slip knot and chain 6.

Row1: Into the first chain crochet dtr, then ch 5, and crochet into the first chain 2dtr cl; 1ch, turn

Row 2:  sl st, then ch 6, skip 5 stitches, sl st; ch 6, turn

Row 3: Crochet 1dtr, ch 55, crochet into the same stitch 2dtr cl, skip 6 chains and crochet 2dtr cl, ch 5, and crochet into the same stitch 2dtr cl; ch 1, turn

Row 4: sl st, ch 6, skip 5 chains, sl st, sl st, ch 6, sl st; ch 6, turn

Row 5: Crochet 1dtr, ch 5, crochet into the same stitch 2dtr cl, skip 6 chains and skip the stitch, and crochet into the next stitch 2dtr cl, ch 5, crochet into the same stitch 2dtr cl, skip 6 chains and crochet into the next stitch 2dtr cl, ch 5, crochet into the same stitch 2dtr cl; ch 1, turn

Row 14: sl st, ch 6, skip 5 chains, sl st, sl st, *ch 6, skip 5 chains, sl st, sl st*, repeat 4 times, ch 6, skip 5 chains, sl st; ch 6, turn

Continue the pattern as directed in row 13 and 14 increasing the repeats by one in each additional row.

Crochet the Celebrity Flower of Life shawl as large as you would like it to be.

Finishing: With yarn needle, weave in all loose ends.

Fringe: Once the Celebrity Flower of Life shawl is complete add the fringe using the same yarn and the hook. Cut 15” length fringes and divide into groups of 2. Fold the fringe group in half to form a loop. Draw the center of a fringe group through the edge of the shawl, using the crochet hook. Thread fringe tails through the loop and tighten to secure. Repeat for each group of fringe.
